Cute name, great food in the Sapphire City.
Freckles Café is everything you want a casual eatery to be: friendly, colourful and unpretentious with a delicious menu of – mostly – healthy treats. Well, what would a café be without a selection of cakes and sweets?
Whether you opt for a coffee or a freshly squeezed juice generously served in an enormous glass, you’ll be happy. For brekky we opted for the corn fritters with bacon and poached eggs, which was seriously good.
But the standout was the granola, a generous serve of muesli and fresh fruit based around a central passionfruit panna cotta. Weird? A little. Delicious? You betcha!
The lunch menu incorporates sandwiches, burgers, salads and light meals, and judging by Freckles’ number one position on Trip Advisor for Inverell, it’s all pretty tasty. The café occasionally opens for dinner on weekends, too, with tapas specials on offer.
Located in a heritage corner store on Inverell’s main drag, Freckles has more windows than walls and the result is a cheery, light-filled space with a bird’s eye view over the happenings of the street.
There is ample alfresco dining space on the extra wide footpath, too, shaded by umbrellas and with colourful, candy-stripe chairs befitting the theme.
