Walcha WinterFest is a celebration of winter in the New England High Country, embracing the crisp air and charm of life in Australia's first winter town – proudly 10 degrees cooler. Held over a July weekend, WinterFest brings together three unique experiences across two days, inviting visitors to come for a day and stay for the weekend. On Saturday, McHattan Park transforms for the Twilight Winter Festival, featuring live music, fire pits, delicious comfort food, hot drinks and family-friendly activities. Enjoy falling snow from the snow machine, step inside the giant snow globe, create lanterns and yarn animals, and play traditional lawn games in a magical winter atmosphere. On Sunday, the Winter in Walcha Markets showcase locally made goods, artisan products and handmade treasures from talented regional stallholders. The markets coincide with Sunday Welcomes @ Walcha, when local businesses open their doors, inviting visitors to shop, indulge and explore the town's boutiques, antiques, woodcraft, cafés and eateries. Whether you're chasing winter fun, live music, unique shopping or a cosy country escape, Walcha WinterFest is the perfect reason to rug up and discover why winter is better in Walcha.
