The Inverell Art Gallery is a community gallery run by a Manager and the Inverell Art Society. The Collective Gift Store sells unique and beautiful contemporary 2D and 3D art, handcrafted glassware, ceramics, woodwork, and fibre and textiles. The Gallery is housed within two unique heritage buildings, the old School of Arts building built in 1906, and Butler Hall, built in 1909. The buildings were combined in 1995 to accommodate a fast-growing Art Gallery. Aunt Elizabeth Connors mural was commissioned by the Inverell Shire Council I 2021. Aunt Elizabeth was a family matriarch and instrumental in forging strong relationships with many groups in the community especially those devoted to reconciliation. Artist Claire Foxton was inspired by the granite rock formations for the background and endemic species incorporated into Aunt Elizabeth’s dress. The "Meandering Macintyre" footpath mosaic is located outside the Art Gallery. The mosaic was constructed on 90 x 120-centimetre panels joined to form a 94-metre-long path, which depicts native Australian wildflower, indigenous birds, insects, fish, animals, and reptiles, and represents the flow of the Macintyre River, which flows through Inverell. The Inverell Art Gallery’s major exhibition The Inverell Art Prize, a competitive exhibition, is held in October each year with the Contemporary Art Exhibition, a curated exhibition, held in May. The Inverell Photography Exhibition is held biannually.
